The Missing Lynx is no pussy cat when it comes to entertaining crowds.  This West Michigan based duo, consisting of Jay Round and Tom DeVries, has built a solid following throughout the Midwest with their amazing musical diversity, instrumentation, vocal harmonies, and crowd rapport.
   Their set lists contain a wide variety of musical styles from the grassroots traditional, country and bluegrass to swing, top hits from the 1960's to the present, and an ever increasing number of original songs. Using guitars, upright and electric basses, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, harmonica, percussion, kazoo, and humor.

   Jay Round was born into a musical family and had various stringed instruments handed to him at a very early age.  He started learning the guitar when he was 4 years old and could play a number of stringed instruments before he was 10.  Around 1970, he was taken by the unique qualities and sound of the hammered dulcimer.   Jay learned to play several songs on the hammered dulcimer within a relatively short time and began his  professional music career when he was 13 years old.
   Although a Michigan resident, offers for Jay to perform came from as far away as Arkansas, North and South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana.  Jays parents and friends of the family were enlisted to chauffeur him to concert dates until he was old enough to get his own drivers license.

   Tom DeVries was inspired by the music of the 1960's and, due to his interest in Bob Dylan songs, began playing the guitar and harmonica in 1970.  His musical talents did not go unnoticed and before long he was performing as a solo artist or in small combos throughout Michigan and Colorado.  
   Tom was asked to chair the Calvin College Music Guild in Grand Rapids where he both entertained and coordinated events.   His interest in guitar flat picking was piqued after he organized a concert appearance for virtuoso Norman Blake at Calvin College.
